New
Orleans Habitat for Humanity
Bench
Bar Build Project
March 15 - May 16
Beginning on Saturday, March 15, New Orleans Habitat for
Humanity will launch a Bench/Bar Building Project. Chief Judge Berrigan
and other EDLA judges are participating. Judge Berrigan urges all "able
bodied - and not so able bodied" members of the bar and their staffs to
likewise join the "Judicial Hammers." No building skills required; just
a good sense of humor and an enthusiasm in helping bring homeownership
to worthy New Orleans families.
The Bench Bar Build will be every Friday and Saturday
from March 15 through May 16.
The completion of our project will also coincide with
the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project.
Every year, President and Mrs. Carter have taken a week in May to
participate in a Habitat build somewhere in the world, bringing with
them many Habitat volunteers who go wherever they go. This year, they
decided that the Gulf Coast would be the location for the 25th annual
"Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project". That will be May 11-16, 2008.
