To obtain an e-filing account for the Eastern District of Louisiana,
attorneys must complete "CM/ECF E-Filing Basics" classroom or on-line training.
Classroom Training
Training classes are held at the courthouse. There are two
different training classes available.
|
CM/ECF E-Filing Basics |
This class qualifies for two
hours of Louisiana CLE credit for members of the LA State Bar and is
provided at no charge. If this live training is elected, the attorneys must
personally attend the training class. A secure login and password will
only be given to the attorney at the completion of the live training class.
This class will also cover the e-filing of a new civil case. Support staff may sign up for the class as well. |
|
E-Filing
a New Civil Case |
For a limited time, we will be providing a class covering only the e-filing
of a new civil case.
This class qualifies
for one hour of Louisiana CLE credit for members of the LA State Bar and is
provided at no charge. It is designed for those attorneys who have already
completed basic e-filing training and already have an e-filing account. A
secure login and password will NOT be provided to attendees at the
completion of this class. Support staff may sign up for this class as well. |
On-line Tutorials
Attorneys may complete the necessary CM/ECF training utilizing on-line
tutorials instead of participating in a live
training class. There are now two different on-line tutorials:
|
CM/ECF E-Filing Basics |
On completing this tutorial, the attorney
must then sign and submit to the Court a
Certificate of Completion
including a completed e-filing registration form. Upon receipt of
the certificate and registration form, the Clerk's Office will
contact the attorney by e-mail within 72 hours with the secure login
and password needed to access the live CM/ECF system. |
|
E-Filing a New Civil Case |
This online tutorial will cover only the e-filing
of new complaints. It is designed for those attorneys who have
already completed basic e-filing training and already have an
e-filing account. This online course alone does not qualify you to
obtain a secure login and password. |
The on-line tutorials do not qualify for
Louisiana CLE credit.
