New Chief Probation Officer Selected!

The court is pleased to announce that Ms. Veronica Ramirez has been selected as its new Chief Probation Officer.  Ms. Ramirez will be joining the Eastern District of Louisiana starting December 10, 2018.  She is currently serving as the Deputy Chief United States Probation Officer for the Northern District of California.

Ms. Ramirez has been the Deputy Chief for the Northern District of California Probation Office since November 2017 with additional service as the Assistant Deputy Chief Probation Officer from June 2015.  As part of her community involvement in the Bay Area, Ms. Ramirez participated in San Francisco's Project Homeless Connect where wrap-around services are provided to the Bay Area Community.  

From 2005 through June 2015, Ms. Ramirez served in the District of Colorado Probation and Pretrial Services Office as a Supervision Officer, Special Offender Specialist and Supervising United States Probation Officer.  During her time in the Denver community, she was an adjunct criminal justice instructor at the Community College of Denver, served as a member of the Community College of Denver Criminal Justice Department Advisory Board, and was a mentor with a nonprofit organization, Denver Kids.  She was also a member of the Honorable Wiley Y. Daniel's “Dream Team”, a distinguished group of criminal justice professionals committed to educating and advocating for at risk youth regarding the importance of education and career opportunities in the criminal justice system.  

Ms. Ramirez began her federal service in Texas where she worked in both the Southern District of Texas Probation and Pretrial Services Office and the Western District of Texas Probation Office.  She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree, with honors, from the University of Texas at Austin in Speech Communication and her Master of Science Degree from Texas A&M International University in Criminal Justice with a minor in Political Science.
