  • How was I selected?

Your name was chosen at random as part of our court’s Jury Selection Process.

  • Am I required to serve?

Yes. Federal law states that “Any person summoned for jury service who fails to appear as directed may be ordered by the district court to appear forthwith and show cause for failure to comply with the summons. Any person who fails to show good cause for noncompliance with a summons may be fined not more than $1,000, imprisoned not more than three days, ordered to perform community service, or any combination thereof.” 28 U.S.C. § 1866(g).

  • What if I’m unable to serve?

Our court’s jury plan provides certain excuse, disqualification and exemption categories potential jurors. We can also accept excuse requests which don’t fall under one of the categories addressed in the jury plan, although these requests must be reviewed on an individual basis. See Requests to be Excused for more information about how to request an excuse.

  • Will I be paid for my jury service?

    See Payment.
