Attorney Reinstatement

Attorneys in suspended or inactive status with this Court who wish to return to active status should follow the instructions below:

SUSPENDED FOR FAILURE TO PAY TRIENNIAL DUES

Attorneys who have not paid triennial dues between 2017 and the present should log into their CM/ECF account, which will provide a prompt for payment of outstanding dues.  For assistance, please contact the CM/ECF Registration Unit at (504) 589-7657 or ECF_Registration@laed.uscourts.gov.

Attorneys who have not paid triennial dues since 2016 or earlier must move for reinstatement with the Court.

To do so, attorneys must submit to the Court a Motion for Reinstatement, along with a Proposed Order, an Attorney Registration Statement, Consent to Electronic Filing form, and a Certificate of Good Standing from the Louisiana State Bar Association or Louisiana State Supreme Court issued within 30 days of the day the Motion for Reinstatement is submitted to this Court.  Please use the forms linked here.  Submit the completed forms to U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, Attention: CM/ECF Registration Unit, 500 Poydras Street, Room C-151, New Orleans, Louisiana 70130 or by email to ECF_Registration@laed.uscourts.gov.

SUSPENDED FOR DISCIPLINARY REASONS

Attorneys suspended due to disciplinary reasons must move for reinstatement with the Court.

To do so, attorneys must timely file a Motion for Reinstatement to the Court, pursuant to Rule 9.3 of the Rules for Lawyer Disciplinary Enforcement for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, along with a Proposed Order and a Certificate of Good Standing from the Louisiana State Bar Association or Louisiana State Supreme Court issued within 30 days of the day the Motion for Reinstatement is submitted to this Court.  Submit the completed forms to U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, Attention: CM/ECF Registration Unit, 500 Poydras Street, Room C-151, New Orleans, Louisiana 70130 or by email to ECF_Registration@laed.uscourts.gov.

INACTIVE STATUS

Attorneys in voluntary inactive status should submit a letter to the Court requesting return to active status.  Please submit the letter electronically at ECF_Registration@laed.uscourts.gov or by mail to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, Attention: CM/ECF Registration Unit, 500 Poydras Street, Room C-151, New Orleans, Louisiana 70130. 

Attorneys who have been in inactive status and have not paid triennial dues since 2016 or earlier must move for reinstatement with the Court as outlined in the “Suspended for Failure to Pay Triennial Dues” section above.
